RTW: Reincarnated

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This Week's Topic:

If you could be reincarnated as any fictional character, which would it be?

It’s been too long since I’ve participated in a road trip and I just couldn’t resist this one. Of course, now I have to answer the question. And choose only ONE fictional character. Ugh. Silly weighty tasks.

While I mulled over this question, SO MANY characters from various works of fiction popped into the brain—Hermione, Emerson Cole (Hourglass), Anna (Anna and the French Kiss), Jordan Woods (Catching Jordan). Anastasia Steele (JUST KIDDING…maybe) I almost, almost picked Princess Leia—but despite the swoon-worthy scenes with swash-buckly Han Solo, I realized I’d have to wear those buns in my hair and uh…no.

So I chose this chick

Snarky, audacious, not afraid to speak her mind. Kick-ass wing span. Weighs 98 pounds and can eat whatever she wants (that would’ve eliminated some major Alison issues). Can take out a fleet of robotic Erasers with a single punch. (okay, that might be slight exaggeration). But Max is super strong, and she gets to hang out with a blind kid and a nine-year old who love to blow things up, a motor-mouth fashionista, and a mind-reading seven year old. And share steamy kisses with one brooding hot Fang. And be entertained by a flying, talking Scottish Terrier while trying to save the world.

Oh, and did I mention she can FLY?! Yeah. I totally want to come back as Maximum Ride.

Also, in a related topic, less than two weeks until this hits the shelves

It's the *sniff* finale, the last book in the series. One I've been waiting a year and a half for. I could read the first sixteen chapters online, but then I'd have to wait TWO WEEKS to read the rest. Way too tortuous.

Anyone else a die-hard Max fan? What fictional character do you want to be in YOUR next life? Let me know in the comments!

It's My Blogiversary! But the Giveaway's for YOU!

Actually, my blogiversary was yesterday, but I was camping with my family in the mountains. Pummeled by heavy thunderstorms. Without internet or cell phone service. Fun.

Really, it WAS fun. And weirdly refreshing not to be a slave to my phone for a few days. And the rain only pounded the tent at night. Plus - we went tubing and fishing and we were able to see a group of surveyors capture one of these guys and tag him.

I won’t post until August 1 so until then, you can enjoy a blast from the past below. The lovely Elodie (have you been to Elodie’s blog? She is so amazingly sweet and fabulous!) tagged me in a 7x7 meme (one in which I superlatize* my posts from the past years) and so I’m sharing with (and tagging) YOU.

Most Beautiful Piece

Umm…I think the title captures it.

Most Helpful Piece

Posted as I was writing my own query. I didn’t realize it would be helpful, but the feedback told me it was.

Most Popular Piece

In response to an RTW, I discuss cringe-worthy words. Aside from my giveaways and contest entries, this one garnered the most comments.

Most Controversial Piece

In which I discover the fun in writing from a guy’s POV. I will always cherish this particular piece. ALWAYS.

Most Surprisingly Successful Piece

I really liked this post. I’m happy other people did too.

Most Underrated Piece

The Meme in which I share words from my WIP. I didn’t really want to share because I am SO scared of feedback on my WIP and was so glad L-Day for the A-Z blogfest fell on a Saturday because who blogs on Saturday? But then, very few people blogged on Saturday. And the part of me that felt relieved also felt kind of well, sad.

Most Pride-Worthy Piece

In which I write a 300-word review of Ellen Hopkin’s Perfect. In free verse. And…AND Ellen Hopkins stopped by, read it, and commented on it!

So, there you have it. Seven blogs to keep you entertained while I try to finish up my rewrite! Thanks Elodie for the tag! And don't forget to enter my giveaway! All you have to do is COMMENT!

*superlatize IS a word. Well, it is NOW.

Finally - sorry I haven't been around much. I'm still working on my rewrite. I've been reading awesome books like

and what was probably the most disturbing, compelling, and heart-wrenching for me...

And the whole family's on summer vacation right now which means road trips and beach days and I just can't get enough of these guys

Anyway, I am really trying to finish this rewrite so I probably won't be blogging a whole lot this summer, bu-ut next week is my Blogiversary so I guess I should post SOMETHING. And I'll be around here and there. In the meantime, I shall leave you with a few words from the great Vince Lombardi. My WIP is peppered with his quotes and my research yesterday left me inspired by some of these

And my favorite...

Hopefully they can inspire you too!

Make sure you check out Alexandra's cover designs! And have a wonderful Fourth of July! What have YOU been up to this summer?
